FAQ about homestays in Chicago

Our Kind of Town

Standing proud beside Lake Michigan, Chicago is down-to-earth, friendly, and full of culture. It has outdoor art by famous artists including Chagall and Picasso, and there are some fascinating architectural works from the Art Institute of Chicago.

Home to blues and house music, Chicago has an eclectic music scene that reflects its spirit. The Windy City is also a pioneer in a variety of Americanized dishes from it's European immigrant roots like deep-dish pizza and the Chicago hot dog.

The world’s first skyscraper and Ferris wheel were erected in Chicago. The latter, on Navy Pier, is one of the Midwest’s most visited sights. Also famed is the ‘L’ transport system, whose raised trains circle The Loop, the main business district. Check out its skyline reflection in the shiny bean sculpture in huge Millennium Park.

Home of the Bulls and Bears, Chicago is a stronghold of sport and has teams playing baseball, basketball, American football and hockey, to name a few. If you get a chance, try to catch a game.

Chicago Midway and Chicago O’Hare Airport are both on the outskirts of this vast city, so make sure to leave enough time for travel from your Booking.com hotel, apartment or hostel. And all that jazz.

    Chicago is an amazing city.

Chicago is an amazing city. The architecture is stunning ( do a river boat architectural tour), so near to all the sights we want to see- Willis tower, the bean, millennium park. Loads of places to eat and drink and a good walking city. Very friendly and extremely clean and looked after. Just to note we stayed around the loop area.

Chicago is a fabulous city to visit.

Chicago is a fabulous city to visit. The lake is amazing, so beautiful, with sandy beaches and a well-designed walk/cycle track. The people are extremely friendly and helpful to tourists. There is so much to do; I would recommend the gangster tour; it's informative and funny. Chinatown is well worth a visit, as is the aquarium and planetarium. Hire a bike for a cycle along the river coast; absolutely fabulous. Eating out is hit-and-miss and very expensive; however, there are a lot of choices. Shopping is good in the city and transport is excellent. A lot of the skyscrapers have rooftop bars where the trendy people go. Overall my experience in Chicago was fantastic, definitely recommend

Absolutely amazing skyscrapers and architecture! Wow!

Absolutely amazing skyscrapers and architecture! Wow! A must is to take a boat trip on lake Michigan and the canals. Wendella tours offer a 1,5 hour trip with a great guide. Navy Pier and Milennium Park are nice places to see. The Shedd Aquarium was great! Riwer walk, it is very nice to walk along the canal and watch all the buildings. It is easy to just walk around in town. If you want to go more far away there are buses or the elevated train. Michigan avenue (The Magnificent Mile) is very nice with many shops and some restaurants. Good to know is that April is a really cold month and it is always windy. Thick clothes are needed. Try a deep dish pizza at restaurant Uno. But be prepared that it takes 45 minutes to do the pizza. The only thing that we didn't like is that Chicago is very expensive.

I took my 8 year old daughter for a birthday trip (instead of a party). We went to the Lincoln park zoo, the Shedd aquarium and the museum of science and industry. All three were super fun and she had a blast. Great city for families— easy to get around and so much to do.

Shout out to Edgar for helping me out, I need to leave a tip for him, but I don’t know how. I forgot to that on my way out because I did not do the check out. Free parking, accessibility to everything downtown, extremely clean rooms with daily room service ouff! There’s too much to say. My experience here felt better than a lot of chain hotels I have slept at. Perfect. I will recommend to everyone I know. And I will only use Ohio house whenever I come to Chicago.

This hotel is spectacular! We were upgraded to a junior suite that overlooked Lincoln Park and west Chicago (corner room). The room was lovely and the view amazing. The location of the hotel is right on main bus lines that we were able to use to connect with different trains for downtown, Wrigley Field and the airport. We were also within walking distance to Old Town for great bars and restaurants. Absolutely loved the staff, hotel and the rooftop bar!!!

Excellent location convenient for all Downtown attractions. Subway stations are very close and there is a direct line from the airport. Local buses are also excellent. There were some front desk staff who were exceptionally helpful but some who were not. It is useful to have an adjacent pub and restaurant that is open long hours as the hotel is in the business district. Big plus was unlimited free drinking water on all floors.

Wonderful hotel. Chouldnt ask for a better location. My wife and I could walk to all the main spots downtown and a quick uber ride to neighborhoods. We stay on the city view side and it was beautiful view of downtown. The bar and lobby were a happening. Drinks, and food were expensive but was isn't in Chicago. Price wise was great, if your staying off season, I can't say in the summer. We would stay again for sure.

We enjoyed our stay!! We booked the one bedroom as a family of 3. It was more than enough space and we thought it was a good value. Super clean. Breakfast had plenty of options, although it was packed during the breakfast hours. Location is extremely central to the downtown Chicago area. I appreciate the "security" at the front door. We chose the hotel mainly because of the location and price. The location is very close to the center - everything is very close (restaurants, bars, breakfast, parking, park with Gloud Gate, etc ..)The price for a hotel in downtown Chicago was also very good. Thanks to a good price range, we did not have high expectations from the hotel. But the equipment was tidy and we were satisfied with it.

OK so upsides; I was travelling for the marathon and didn't want to break the bank. This place was £550 compared to the places downtown which were nearer £2k. Most of the staff are very friendly and the gym is a plus point. I didn't feel unsafe in the hotel itself which is a bonus travelling alone as a woman. It wasn't too far to the CTA train which was only a short ride into downtown Chicago

Kind of hard to find the hotel front entrance as it's in an office building, but once you do the payoff from the view is well worth the effort.
